Negative Self Talk and Stress

By November 9, 2012

Follow me on:

Self talk is the internal dialogue we use to view the world, expain situations and communicate to ourselves. The type of self talk you use -- negative self talk or positive self talk -- can affect the level of stress you experience.

What does your internal monologue sound like? How do you talk to yourself -- are you helpful and encouraging? If I had to guess, I'd say that most of us are probably critical of ourselves. Giving yourself a pep talk in your head is not the type of thing many of us are in the habit of doing.

Stress Management Guide Elizabeth Scott tells us why we are so hard on ourselves, and, most importantly, how we can change our self talk.
