Many people will answer "yes" to this question, and some may even try to take measures (such as laxatives) to ensure they have a movement each and every day. But the truth is that bowel movements are more complicated than that, and aren't necessarily an everyday occurrence. How often should you have a bowel movement?

I have friend that has only had 1 or 2 BMs a week. He seemed perfectly healthy but developed and intestinal condition that required surgery in his 40s. Having digested food sitting in your colon for that long can’t be a good thing, can it?
