Risk factors include:

  • Age over 50
  • A family history of colon cancer
  • A personal history of colon cancer
  • Long standing Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
  • Personal history of polyps
  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Diet low in fruits & vegetables
