A food elimination diet can be an effective tool. A food elimination diet works by removing from the diet several foods that are suspected of being triggers to IBS symptoms, and adding them back in one at a time. A food and symptom journal is kept at the same time. By analyzing the journal, clues may come apparent that some foods precipitate or contribute to IBS symptoms.
