Colon Cancer Awareness Month Fact - Colonoscopy Safety

One reason why people at risk may put off having a colonoscopy is because of the potential risks. In truth, a colonoscopy is a safe and effective procedure when performed by a qualified professional. Risk of perforation of the bowel is approximately 2%, and only about 1% need surgery to repair bleeding from a polypectomy.
