Fruit juices aren't always a good choice for people with IBS. A glass of fruit juice can be considered one of the daily recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, but choose the type of juice with care.

Some fruit juices don't actually contain much actual fruit juice - only about 10% or less, and may contain sorbitol. Prune juice can have a laxative effect. Apple or grape juice may cause diarrhea or cramping. Orange juice, due to high citric acid content, may contribute to heartburn.
