Think Substitutions!

All this month we've learned about the foods that can set off an IBS attack. Fortunately, there are substitutes available for some of the foods you may have to avoid. Substitutions in recipes are dependant on taste, and may require some experimentation.

  • Instead of:     Try This
  • Cow's Milk      Soy or rice "milk"
  • Ground meat     Soy or tofu
  • Chocolate      Cocoa powder
  • 1 Egg      2 Egg whites
  • Butter      Applesauce
  • Sour cream      Plain yogurt
