You might feel a little embarrassed at first, but taking a break at your desk to do some simple stretching can do wonders for your stress level and your creativity.

A condition such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) brings a significant amount of stress along with it. Finding the best way to deal with stress from family, home, work, and your disease can take some practice and patience. A technique that works for one person may not work for another. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways that you can try to relieve your stress.

Many of us sit all day at a desk and so we don't get much exercise. If you're looking at a computer screen, you should look away every so often to rest your eyes. You should also get up from your chair every so often to stretch your legs.

You can even take a few minutes several times a day for a mini-retreat from the stress -- right at your desk. Try some stretching exercises for your arms, back, legs, and neck. Another idea is to practice progressive muscle relaxation.
