From the article: How To Deal With Bloating And Gas
Gas and bloating are very common problems for people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Everyone has gas, but for some people it can be very painful and distressing. There are some foods that are known to cause gas in most people, but everyone is different. Which foods give you the most gas? Do you still eat these foods, or do you avoid them at all costs? Your Gassiest Foods
Guaranteed Potency
- Chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans) has to be my most severe with red kraut (pickled red cabbage) and broccoli tied for a close second. Chickpeas will literally quarantine me to the house and drive my loved ones to the street.

Fish Fish Fish!
- I get gas just looking at food, it seems. But fish is probably the biggest problem for me. And perhaps it depends on how it's prepared. It's also very difficult for me to eat out at restaurants, as I usually end up like a bloated whale by the time I leave. Aside from the usual veggies, oat bran, granola, etc. I'm now trying to figure out if wheat is a contributer too.

Apple Juice
- I find that an hour after drinking apple juice I get seriously bloated. The only way I can get rid of it is by massaging my stomach whilst sitting with my knees on the sofa and my head on a cushion on the floor!

Fruits, Veggies, Gluten
- Apples, apple juice, soy milk, most fruits and vegetables, all milk (especially yogurt), all gluten foods. Rice is OK, long grain or brown. Had luck with canned tuna fish, clams. Beano seems to help, but not always; at least gas is not malodorous. Potatoes not good. Gosh, do I have space to list everything?

Beans, Citrus, Onions
- Beans (all sorts), but if the hard outer skin is taken off it is OK. All citrus fruits and onions!

Foods That Cause Me Gas
- I have issues with radishes, cauliflower, apples, dried fruit, oatmeal, prunes, broccoli, onions, peas, beans, milk products, and too much sugar. I have to watch what I eat and I have to avoid these foods as I have too many problems with them.
